    Rock Creek viewed from Taft Bridge in spring.  Unfolding new leaves paint the treetops in many shades of green and gold.
    A wash of yellow blossoms lights up the woodland floor in spring in Rock Creek Park. However, the native troutlily (Erythronium americanum) can barely raise its flowers and leaves above the smoothering carpet of invaseive lesser celandine (Ranunculus ficaria).
